Someone Please Call Jiu-Yao-Yao

So today marks day 2 of Mandarin classes and the good news is my head is still in tact…for now. We reviewed pin yin, which was very welcome, and then moved on to learn various phrases and terms. I can now count to 10, describe my family, and tell someone where in Beijing I am staying (which is very useful in case I get lost). On the downside, I still suck at Chinese. I have to work on my pronunciation. I stupidly volunteered to give an announcement in Chinese before the whole class tomorrow, so I have to study twice as hard. There really is not point; I know I’m going to embarrass myself. Please someone help me! I need a tutor!

We also traveled to a school for disabled children and adults after lunch. We learned how to make soap and got a chance to hang out with some really cute kids. We only played with the kids for a short while, but it was the highlight of my day. They were so cute! IMG_1154
