Brooklyn celebrated her third annual International Day of Friendship today. Volunteering for such a phenomenal event was exhilerating. We spent the morning preparing for the parade of nations where we each carried a flag of a country around the world. I was honored to carry the flag of Slovakia, the country that my grandparents emigrated from.
After the parade the flags were displayed at the Brooklyn borough hall where a day of festivities including dancing and food tasting took place.
All in all it was great to be a part of the event. A lot of locals came out for the day and it was great seeing them get excited for their home countries flag to walk by.
