Tiananmen Square, National Museum, and More!

Today was yet another jam-packed day. We had Mandarin in the morning and learned how to talk about what activities we have been doing and will be doing in the days to come, which got me very excited for the rest of our time here. It’s really flown by and I’m trying to make the most of every day by exploring the city as much as I can. After class we went to the National Museum, which was HUGE! I thought the most interesting exhibit was one on diplomacy art, which consisted of probably hundreds of different gifts bestowed to China on the behalf of other countries around the world as a symbol of friendship and good relations. It was so fascinating to see which items each country chose to represent themselves.

We then walked through Tiananmen Square, which I have learned about on many different occasions in school. I’m glad we got to behold such an important place. The opera house was very impressive, too, both for its cultural value and for its unique architecture.

Lastly, I had one of the best popsicles of my life today. It was peach, which represents longevity here in China. Tomorrow we are visiting the art district, which I am really looking forward to!
