Today was a much more relaxed day, which was a nice reprieve. Even with it being our third day, still jetlag is hard to adjust to. Breakfast was not until 9:30. After we headed to Honjou, an area that is a strange combination between a market and a neighborhood. We had been told that the area was rather pricey, so I had decided simply to browse and not buy anything from there. After walking down the main road, and meandering through the various side roads, I was given a clearer look at the queer pairing of commercial shops and domestic homes. Among it all were trees and even a river, creating a beautiful scene amongst it all.
After Honjou, we went to the Pearl Market. They had wonderful food, I loved being in a food court type setting and being able to choose my food. I finished lunch then headed upstairs to the shops. I had a great time bartering, although it was a little mentally exhausting. I was surprised by the aggressiveness of the shop owners. But harboring my own aggressive personality, brushing them off was not very difficult for me. I’m very proud of all the extremely cheap souvenirs I was able to get, I have a large family to buy for. I need more money now, but that’s alright. It was certainly worth it.
