Today we visited the Great Wall. On the bus, our tour guide Eric gave us a brief history lesson on some of the former emperors of China. He recommended we watch The Last Emperor as it was the only film to be able to shoot footage in the Forbidden City. Climbing the stairs of the Wall was intense. The steps are all different sizes so you need to pay attention to where you place your foot. The view from the top of the Wall is amazing, you can see it curving through the mountain tops, marked by each watch tower. My shirt was soaked in sweat. The part we climbed today was restored by the Ming Dynasty over 600 years ago. Walking back down, I was dripping sweat. When we all met back up we had lunch at Subway and fed the stray dog that was there.
We threw pieces of bread and bacon at her but she was too nervous to come closer to us. After the Great Wall we went to the Olympic Grounds and saw the Nest and Cube arenas. While there, we were stopped to take pictures with random Chinese people walking by… strange.
