Marinating in my sweat

Around 12:30 my mom texted me a picture of her In’n’Out burger she was about to devour in San Diego, in an air conditioned facility; meanwhile I was in western Asia going up the stairs of the Great Wall, marinating in my sweat. However, there was no way I would trade being in a cold room with the best burger in the world over walking on something that was built 600 years ago during the Ming Dynasty. I love going to historic sites when I visit different countries, even if it means climbing up hundreds and hundreds of crooked stairs.

I’ve been in China for four days now and I still can’t get the fact that I’m in CHINA. I’m in Asia, like, what? I’ve been to a lot of countries across Europe and I’ve been to Mexico, but ASIA? Yes, definitely top 3. There was something so beautiful and relaxing about the scenery we got to enjoy while we were at the wall. There were birds chirping, bugs swarming, and sweat dripping, but all of that didn’t matter anymore when I looked up at the sky, because I felt empowered and alive. For a moment I told Chloe and Jean, “Guys, can we just take a minute take this all in?” I couldn’t believe I was at the wall, because I feel like everything is happening so quickly that sometimes I just need to make it a priority to take a step back and take it all in, because in a blink of an eye I could miss it.
