Scaling the Great Wall

Today, we climbed more than a thousand stairs with a fantastic view from the Great Wall outside of Beijing. The temperature was wonderful and there was a breeze to help. Although the climbing made for another sweaty day, it was certainly enjoyable with the view. There was also a slide chute that could be taken and after climbing to the wall, a group of us took the chute to the bottom. That was also very enjoyable as it was like taking one big slide to the bottom. Afterwards, we went to a Subway restaurant and had lunch while relaxing outside before heading off to the Olympic park.

The Olympic park is quite large, with lots of artwork and structures scattered around. There is the main stadium where the opening ceremony was held and the Olympic swimming area. Sadly, many of the plaques used to label the artwork are broken which is truly a shame.
