Chloe, Nicole, Kaise and I spent our free day at a spa today! We each got full-body and foot massages, and for almost two hours, we all got to sit back and relax while having the knots in our muscles smoothed out. The highlight of our day at the spa, however, was when we did the cupping. The experience was a really strange one, but one that I’m definitely glad I had. They put fire in glass cups briefly so that the fire went out inside of the cups but still heated them up, and then stuck those cups to the bottom of our feet. I didn’t think they hurt, having only felt a bit of a tingling sensation in my feet, but Chloe said that the suction from the cups hurt for her.
Before our time at the spa, we had lunch at a nearby restaurant. We had noodles and dumplings, which were really delicious. I had a plate of these cold noodles in a thick sauce and shredded cucumbers, which was one of the best things I’ve ever tasted. We also had these yellow dumplings full of a kind of custard, and really, we just had an awesome meal that I really enjoyed.
In the early evening, Chloe, Nicole, and I spent an hour and a half at Maan Coffee, writing and discussing the topics of our prompt. I think that today was a leisurely day well spent with the great new friends I made here at the Shining Future Scholarship Program!
