A Day in the City

Today was an exciting and busy day. We traveled to Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City while also watching a small act of a Chinese Opera. Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City are massive. Tiananmen Square is the largest city square in all of Asia, if not the world. The Forbidden City once had 9,999 & 1/2 rooms, the 1/2 being so the city would not outdo the 10,000 rooms of heaven. Ancient China had very interesting ideas about the heavens. The gardens and the size of the courthyards at the city were trememndous. Millions of people could easily fit within the city limits. After leaving the Forbidden City, we went to the basement of a building and watch a short scene of a Chinese opera, then we were given lessons on how to perform some of the acts of the opera. It was very fun! We were taught how to move around like the Monkey King and how to act like him. It was very interesting to learn.
