We have finally arrived in China after much anticipation! We left our hotel early this morning and I had Shake Shack in JFK for breakfast as my last meal in the United States. After 15 hours, a series of naps, three movies, several Sudoku puzzles, and a copious amount of airplane food later, we touched down in Guangzhou, southern China, for our layover. Our first flight was slightly delayed arriving, so we had to hurry through customs to make our connecting flight to Beijing. Fortunately airport staff was very accommodating and shuttled us around as quickly as they could.
We have just settled in at our dorms in Beijing and I am already looking forward to breakfast tomorrow morning, as well as to seeing what the campus looks like in daylight. We’re also going to the Summer Palace!
It was sad leaving our Chinese friends in New York, but I know they will have an amazing time exploring the city and learning more about our culture as we learn about theirs.
