I arrived in the Beijing dorms about an hour ago.
It’s noon by my biological clock, but I’m so exhausted from traveling that I might fall asleep while typing this blog post. Since I haven’t been in the country for long, all I can really talk about is the 22+ hours I just spent in planes and airports, but trust me, that’s more than enough.
I have to say that I really liked the Chinese airline, China Southern. Each seat had a personal touch screen with tons of free movies and music– and not the obscure free content that usually comes on a flight. This plane had the entire Harry Potter series, both The Lord of The Rings and The Hobbit trilogies. And for music, they had some classic Destiny’s Child and Linkin Park, but what surprised me the most was the sheer volume of Avril Lavigne available. Why?
I wish I could upload some photos of the plane food and my friends, but I LEFT MY PHONE ON THE PLANE. So I’ll have to deal with that tomorrow. This isn’t even the first time this has happened. I’ll update on the status of my phone tomorrow.
The craziest part of the trip was definitely the layover. Somehow, the group got through several layers of security, customs, and a maze of an airport in under 40 minutes. At times, I thought to myself what we would do if we missed our flight. But by by the skin of our teeth, every last person, even Jean (who is in crutches!!) made it onto the plane.
Also, I woke up at 4:30 on Tuesday morning and I’m going to bed past midnight on Thursday morning. So we skipped Wednesday, right??
