I think I’m speaking for both of us when I say that Chris and I were super disappointed to be leaving after the majority of our American compatriots. However, our time still here has been surprisingly fun! We spent our day adventuring, starting with the trip from Somerset into the City. We parked ourselves at Washington Square Park and explored for a little while. Then, we went to see Dodge Landesman speak at NYU. Dodge is a 25 year old politician committed to creating better access to education for people with learning disabilities. His advice about how to get into politics and how to find success in any career was very thought-provoking. The issue however, is that he spoke far too fast for any of the Chinese students to understand what he was saying. Today, while Chris and I are writing and picking up passports, the Chinese students are phone banking for Dodge in hopes of electing him to state committee as a representative of the Lower East. We had lunch with Dodge yesterday and it was very cool to spend time with someone so energetic and committed to the betterment of his city. After eating with Dodge, some students and I explored the Village. We spent a lot of time with the Chinese students at the NYU bookstore looking at books and clothes and such. Afterwards we checked in at Pace, my Chinese roommate is a total sweetheart, and had a relaxing evening. Luckily, since dinner was just sandwiches at Pace, I was able to go see my family for dinner.
