A Day at the Summer Palace

In a place made for beauty, the heat took its toll on us all. The Summer Palace was exceptional to be at. The architecture, stones, statues, lake, and bridges were quite a sight to see. The corridor with the art was also nice to look at, as every painting was different from the other. That must have taken forever to complete and many good artists. However, with the heat and humidity, enjoying the scenery was difficult. Since we had just arrived in Beijing the day before today, hydration was lacking and this made some of the hiking of stairs difficult. Nevertheless, we had an enjoyable time watching the boats float across the lake and listening to the constant hum of the insects.
