Arriving in Somerset, NJ and meeting 9 new Americans and 20 Chinese students all within 3 hours is a whirlwind. Luckily coming to this experience with a close friend makes it a lot easier. Especially when we both went to China before for a tour choir trip.
With the tour we sang a song titled Molihua, our only piece in Mandarin. As we met the Chinese students here we quickly realized they all know the song and were willing to sing it with us. The spontaneous bridging between groups that were still struggling to figure out basic communication was wildly fulfilling and set the tone for what should be a great few weeks.
