Day #1 – A Moment of Song

Today was a splendid day. I did not have a coupon for breakfast but I did manage to grab some coffee from the lounge. Central Park did get a little wet near the end with some excessive mugginess, but we prevailed through that as well. I had a wonderful time with some of the Chinese students when they asked me to sing. I decided to sing a section of a song called Molihua, which happens to be a nationally recognized folk song. As I started to sing it, the Chinese students started to sing along. I am a music major, and this choir of sound brought me much joy. To know I can relate with other people through song makes me feel fulfilled. This moment was cultural exchange at a great moment: being able to relate to one another with a similar cultural feature.
