Today was my first day in Beijing. We landed around 11:30AM and joined the rest of the tour group at the Pearl Market. There, shoppers can negotiate prices with sellers. At the market were stalls selling scarves, clothes, sneakers, bags, jewelry, electronics, and much more. While we waited for the bus to take us to the Red Theater, students sung some Karaoke in the food court. The American singers drew in the largest crowds. At the Red Theater, we saw a kung fu performance telling the story of a young boy’s journey through life. The show combined technology, choreography, and acrobatics.
