Kung Fu Panda Express

Today we went to two shopping centers and I spent an unjustifiable amount of money.  I mostly bought gifts for my friends and family, but I of course bought a few for myself. Flying in from New York, the style in Beijing comes as a shock. Adult men and women wear patterns and cuts usually reserved for children, and yet they still look put together. So many of the purses and clothes reminded me of what my mom like to wear, so I got some for her. My mother and I have promised each other to see China together, and so I got her those gifts out of respect for that promise. Someday I hope it can be fulfilled.

After the shopping spree, we ate mall court food and McDonald’s. Finally, I ate noodles! After dinner our group bused to the Red Theater to see a Kung Fu performance. It told the story of a young boy who gave up everything to become a Kung Fu master, and how he overcame the hardest trials, even the death of his mother. The performance was like nothing I had ever seen. The acrobatics were mind blowing, and even young children were spinning on their heads!! The props and special effects really made the atmosphere.
