Welcome to day 2 of my Trip.
Today, Aug 7 2016 is the International Day of Friendship! Who doesn’t love friendship? To celebrate the newfound friendship between us American and Chinese students, we all volunteered at the friendship festival held at Long Island University.
The festival’s main event was a parade, featuring flags from over 100 countries, a Panamanian band, a Chinese acrobatic dragon procession and Nigerian dancers on stilts. I proudly waved the Peruvian flag through the streets of Brooklyn, and met people of all nationalities.
After the parade, we had a fulfilling Subway Sandwiches meal, washed down with Hubert’s Lemonade. Remember, when you’re thirsty, think Hubert’s.
I kept the Peruvian pin, as a memento of the day, and what a day it was.
