You know it’s going to be a good day when you get to sleep in. You know it’s going to be a better day when Queen Kaise is wearing a fun hat and you finally get your visa. I got to sleep in, which is my favorite activity in the world, and then I picked up paintbrushes for the watercolors I brought to Beijing. I also got a bagel with cream cheese. I fell asleep in the middle of the day for no apparent reason- should have known I was getting sick then…and went to the Bank of China on Madison Ave. The Bank was beautiful. The lobby was stunning. I am wondering what the building will turn into now that the Bank is moving into 7 Bryant Park. According to the associates who spoke with us, BOC employees are most excited for the fact that the new building will have a cafeteria devoted solely to Chinese food. The vast majority of the bank’s employees in both Manhattan and Queens have moved over from China. Getting used to the food tends to be the hardest adjustment for people. This is why the prospect of a new cafeteria is so exciting. After the Bank we all went to the High Line for a teen party. Although I am rarely a party animal, attending a party at 7 pm is even more rare for me. We learned some dance moves and printed tee shirts and all got a taste of party life in America. Afterwards we headed back to Pace and Chris and I got all of our things together. We went to the airport and on the way I realized how sick I was/am. Fevers and chills on planes are no fun. Neither is ear and throat pain. I think I am already on the up and up which is wonderful. I slept a lot on the first plane and will continue my story of the second plane in my next post!
