Today was quite a jam-packed day! We hit up not one but two separate shopping locations and explored store after store in search of the perfect souvenirs for family and friends. The first place we went was outside, and my favorite shop there was probably the teahouse. They had every imaginable flavor of tea, including many I’d never heard of before. One fragrant combination of herbs was titled “the dumping of dreams” in English, which I found amusing. I was also amused at some of the translations in the food court of the second shopping center we went to. One such translation is pictured below.
I, meanwhile, stuck to a delicious plate of fried noodles with vegetables. After hearing so many of the Chinese students say their favorite food was noodles, it was nice to finally try some in China.
After hours of shopping, we went to the Red Theater and got to see an incredible play about the art of kung fu. I was so impressed by all of the performers’ athleticism, especially that of the little kids! They were doing all sorts of flips and landing on their bodies in ways I would’ve thought impossible.
